Affiliate Disclosure

Plain-English disclosure, per FTC guidelines.

The short version

Some links on TrueCost Remodeling are affiliate links. That means if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. This is how the site stays free.

What this means in practice

  • When we link to a product at a retailer like Amazon, Home Depot, or a specialty tool supplier, that link may contain a tracking code identifying TrueCost Remodeling as the referrer.
  • If you buy through that link, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price as if you'd gone to the retailer directly.
  • We also flag affiliate links with a disclosure notice near the content where they appear — not just on this page.

What this doesn't change

  • Recommendations come first. We recommend products we'd suggest to a client or use ourselves. Affiliate availability never determines what we cover.
  • Costs stay honest. Our cost guides are built from real project experience. No numbers are inflated to make an affiliate product look like a bargain.
  • No pay-to-rank. Retailers cannot pay for placement in our guides or product comparisons.

Programs we participate in

As the site grows, we may participate in affiliate programs including but not limited to Amazon Associates, home improvement retailers, and tool suppliers. This list will be updated as programs are added.

Questions? If you ever want to know whether a specific link is an affiliate link, ask us — we'll tell you straight.
